GGA CARE Team Services

The CARE Team is composed of a wellness specialist (LMSW) , a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) and a school-based behavioral therapist (LGPC) and is overseen by the Director of Culture, a nationally board certified counselor. This team provides social emotional and mental health support to students and families through a trauma informed lens. Through restorative practice, partnerships and varied counseling modalities this team strives to create a safe space for students to feel like they matter

    • Mission is to engage, mentor and develop Black mothers to cultivate positive mother-daughter relationships, strengthen Black single-mother families, and increase their economic mobility 2 generations at a time.

Social Work Internship Site

  • GGA hosts social work interns on site
  • Supervise interns
  • Interns provide additional individual, group counseling and other SEL support as needed

Sister 2 Sister

  • Mentorship program to develop a peer support network and community
  • Hosts monthly events to bring mentor and mentee pairs together

Individual Counseling

  • Behavior support services provided to students with individualized education plans (IEP’s)
  • One-on-one weekly counseling sessions for students with identified SEL needs
  • Ongoing check-ins and case management with families and caregivers as needed
  • Crisis management for students as needed

Group Counseling

  • 3-6 Groups per trimester
  • 6-8 students participate per group
  • 6-8 weeks, 50 minutes per session
  • Topics include:
    • Coping skills
    • Emotional regulation
    • Conflict resolution
    • Self-esteem
    • Empowerment
    • Trauma Recovery
